4 Min Read

Mangaluru, Karnataka / Malappuram, Kerala: The professional journey of Farseen Mohammed P reflects a progression from undergraduate physiotherapy education to postgraduate specialization in neurosciences, clinical rehabilitation and research.

A specialist physiotherapist in neurosciences and clinical researcher, Farseen has developed his career around neurophysiotherapy, neurorehabilitation, therapeutic exercise and evidence-based physiotherapy.

Beginning With Physiotherapy Education

Farseen Mohammed P completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from the Co-operative Institute of Health Sciences, Thalassery, affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences.

His undergraduate education provided the foundation for his subsequent clinical training and specialization.

During his undergraduate training and internship between 2022 and 2024, he gained clinical exposure at several healthcare institutions, including Co-operative Hospital, Thalassery, Aster MIMS, Kottakkal, Meitra Hospital, Calicut, Bangalore Baptist Hospital, Tirurangadi Taluk Hospital and Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut.

Moving Toward Neurosciences

Following his undergraduate education, Farseen pursued postgraduate studies in neurosciences.

He completed his Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Neurosciences at Yenepoya Physiotherapy College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru.

His postgraduate specialization focused on neurophysiotherapy and neurorehabilitation.

The specialization became an important foundation for his later research interests in stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s disease rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise.

Additional Education in Nutrition

Alongside his physiotherapy education, Farseen completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition (PGDN) in 2025 through British Learning, United Kingdom.

The additional qualification contributes to his broader academic background in health and rehabilitation.

His professional interests include nutrition alongside physiotherapy, exercise and rehabilitation.

Postgraduate Clinical Training

As part of his postgraduate development, Farseen completed clinical training at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru during 2024–2026.

His clinical exposure included neurological rehabilitation involving conditions such as:

  • Stroke
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Guillain–Barré syndrome
  • Spinal cord disorders

He also gained exposure to rehabilitation approaches including Neurodevelopmental Treatment, Motor Relearning Programme and task-oriented training.

Research During Postgraduate Education

Research became a significant part of Farseen’s postgraduate education.

His dissertation was titled:

“Effect of Eccentric Versus Concentric Strengthening on Functional Mobility in Subacute Stroke Patients: A Randomized Parallel-Group Comparative Study.”

The study explored strengthening approaches and functional mobility in the context of subacute stroke rehabilitation.

The research also contributed to his wider interest in therapeutic exercise and evidence-based neurorehabilitation.

Scientific Presentations

Farseen has presented his research at professional physiotherapy conferences.

At Mangalore PhysioCon 2026, he presented his postgraduate research on eccentric versus concentric strengthening and functional mobility in subacute stroke patients.

The conference was held on 10–11 April 2026 at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre, Mangaluru.

He subsequently received the First Prize in the Postgraduate Oral Paper Presentation category at SYNERGOS 2026 for a systematic review concerning eccentric strengthening interventions in stroke rehabilitation.

Developing a Research Portfolio

Farseen’s academic activities extend beyond his postgraduate dissertation.

His research portfolio includes systematic reviews, scoping reviews, evidence synthesis and clinical intervention research.

His areas of research interest include:

  • Stroke rehabilitation
  • Parkinson’s disease rehabilitation
  • Neurorehabilitation
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Evidence-based physiotherapy
  • Exercise-based rehabilitation
  • Clinical research

He has also worked on research related to cardiac rehabilitation and metabolic health.

Published Research

In 2026, Farseen Mohammed P contributed to a published scoping review concerning Parkinson’s disease rehabilitation.

The paper, titled “Timing of Dopaminergic Medication Relative to Physiotherapy Delivery in Adults with Parkinson’s Disease: A Scoping Review,” was published in the International Journal of Drug Delivery Technology.

Farseen is listed as the second author and corresponding author.

The research examines the timing of dopaminergic medication in relation to physiotherapy delivery and its relevance to motor performance and rehabilitation.

Continuing Professional Development

Farseen has continued to expand his professional knowledge through workshops, certifications and conferences.

His continuing professional development includes training in:

  • Systematic review and meta-analysis
  • Good Clinical Practice
  • Stroke management
  • Neurodevelopmental Treatment
  • Motor Relearning Programme
  • Health science research and publication
  • Physiotherapy conferences

In August 2026, he participated in a five-day international-level hands-on workshop on systematic review and meta-analysis.

Academic and Institutional Activities

Farseen has also participated in academic service activities.

He served as a member of the organizing committee for an Institution’s Innovation Council awareness workshop at Yenepoya Physiotherapy College.

He was also an organizing member of the Scientific Committee for Mangalore PhysioCon 2026.

In September 2026, he served as a resource person at a CME session for nursing professionals at St. Joseph’s Mission Hospital, Anchal, Kerala.

A Developing Career in Neurorehabilitation

Farseen Mohammed P’s academic journey demonstrates a progression from undergraduate physiotherapy education to postgraduate specialization, clinical training and research.

His combination of neuroscience specialization, clinical experience, research projects, scientific presentations and continuing education has shaped his professional profile.
